Anmärkning: Innehållsbeskrivning, sammanfattning Time and wavelength dependent mathematical models for retinal burns and for flashblindness from nuclear detonations are developed in this report. These models are incorporated into a computer program with the latest weapon and burn threshold data to calculate safe separation distances as a function of time for given sets of initial conditions. The results, which present safe separation envelopes with time as a parameter, are included in the appendices. Yield, altitude of detonation, visibility and day or night conditions are also parameters. Retinal burn predictions with this model compare favorably with experimental results obtained during Operations Dominic.
